At least 107 people died and 200 injured after fourteen coaches of the Indore Patna Express derailed near Pukhrayan in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The train had derailed at around 3 am on November 20th. Police, NRDF and medical response teams were quick to rush to the site of the accident. Cranes and gas-cutters were used in the rescue operation.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav left no stone unturned to ensure the rescue operations were smooth.
“All hospitals in neighboring districts are activated. Private hospitals of Kanpur are put on alert to accommodate patients.”
