Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched another earth observation satellite Resourcesat-2A from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

Resourcesat-2A is a remote sensing satellite and is a follow-on mission to Resourcesat-1 and Resourcesat-2, which were launched in 2003 and 2012 respectively.


Launch Vehicle: PSLV-C36

Payload: 1235 kilogram

Orbit:  817 km polar Sun Synchronous Orbit

‘XL’ version of PSLV with six solid strap-on motors  used.

This is the first time ISRO used its own Navic System to navigate PSLV. The Navic processor and receiver helped navigate PSLV. This is the ninth launch of 2016 for ISRO.
