V Shanmuganathan, who had taken over as the governor of Meghalaya in May 2015 resigned after a section of Rajbhavan employees demanded his resignation for seriously compromising the dignity of the office and making it a “young ladies club”.

The 67-year-old ex-governor also faced sexual harassment charges in the past.
