The Congress-JDS alliance in Karnataka is in trouble. Congress minister DK Shivakumar claimed that BJP was poaching their leaders as a part of Operation Lotus 2.0. The senior Congress leader claimed that three Congress leaders- who were previously approached by BJP – are now lodged in a Mumbai hotel, sparking speculations of horse trading.
Signs of rift between Congress and JDS also emerged after DK Shivakumar slammed the chief minister HD Kumaraswamy. The Congress leader said Kumaraswamy was lenient with BJP despite being aware of the controversy.
On the other CM Kumaraswamy said that the MLAs were in constant touch with him adding that the MLAs were merely on a personal visit to Mumbai.
In a bid to counter Op Lotus, Congress leader DK Shivakumar will be flying into Mumbai to meet with the dissenting leaders to persuade them not to jump ship.
Amidst the on-going crisis in Karnataka, Two independent MLAs from Karnataka are expected to meet the governor of the state. However it is unclear if they will join sides with any party.
Meanwhile BJP has levelled counter charges against the congress-JDS alliance, State party president Yeddyurappa claimed that Congress and JDS are trying to lure their MLAs.
Yeddyurappa also claimed that seveal MLAs were approached by the CM who offered them ministerial berth in the govt .
In a bid to prevent counter poaching by Congress and JDS, BJP has decided to keep its MLAs in a resort in Gurugram.BJP MLA are currently in New Delhi as a part of their tour to attend the National Council meet.
