While the ‘discovery’ was made on 09 April 2019, Indian Army waited for 3 weeks to put out the information in public domain after it matched previous theories of the elusive creature. The photographs will also be submitted to experts who are expected to evaluate the evidence.
While a lot has been said and written about the Yeti, no one has seen it or at least no photographic evidence of a Yeti exists.
SO WHAT EXACTLY IS A YETI?
The legend of Yeti in the modern human history began in 1921, when a mountaineer named Charles Howard Bury chronicled that he had a spotted a mysterious creature near Mount Everest in Nepal and since then several spottings of Yeti have been reported across the world. While some describe Yeti as a monster, others believe it could a type of human species that remains to be discovered.
SO WHAT’S THE CONTROVERSY?
Several Twitter users are upset that an institution like the Army chose to fan the rumours surrounding Yeti. The pictures uploaded may be of scientific evidence, but to put out the information before it was evaluated has only made India a laughing stock internationally. This is possibly the first time any institution has given credence to rumours surrounding Yeti. Countries US has always ensured files related to UFO sightings are classified in order to prevent pandemonium with respect to alien life.
SO WHAT DOES THE TWITTERATI HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT?
The Indian Army tweet has generated a wide spectrum of reactions. Some are extremely ecstatic over this finding, while others are questioning the Army. #Yeti was trending all day and here is what the users had to say.
