Home Minister Amit Shah: have tested positive for coronavirus
Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed that he has tested positive for COVID19 and will be admitted to a hospital following the advice of doctors.

The home minister also requested those who had come in his contact to get tested for coronavirus and isolate themselves.
Reports suggest the Home Minister had attended Cabinet Meet on wednesday while maintaining social distancing norms and while wearing a mask.
Amitabh Bachchan discharged from hospital
Fans of Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan were relieved after the actor revealed that he had tested negative for COVID-19.
The actor who has been discharged from hospital will now be quarantined at home.

The 77 year old’s 44 year old son Abhishek, however, continues to tackle coronavirus in hospital as he continues to remain covid positive.

Last month, Abhishek’s wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya too were discharged after testing negative for the virus. Throughout their stay in the hospital, Amitabh and Abhishek kept their fans and well-wishers updated about their health via social media.
Trade body report: Liquor sales decline in states with high Covid Cess
A report released by trade association CIABC has revealed that states which imposed a covid cess of more than 50 per cent on liquor recorded an average 59% decline in sales in the months of May and June.
Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, J&K, Odisha, and Pudducherry imposed COVID-cess of 50% (or more). Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies says this led to a decline of sales to 66 per cent in May and 51 per cent in June in comparisons with sales last year.
Taxation, beyond a point, becomes counterproductive. The idea to make up for revenue deficit due to lockdown through heavy taxation on sale of liquor has backfired. States which imposed heavy Corona cess on liquor saw sale of booze going down by more than half during relaxation in lockdownCIABC
On the other hand states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala Meghalaya, Rajasthan and West Bengal, imposed COVID-cess between 15-50% and saw a decline of 34% in sales.
Similarly Assam, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana,Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand, UP, Telangana and Tamil Nadu imposed 15% additional cess and saw only 16% decline in sales. Across India, 25% and 15% decline in sales was seen respectively in May and June this year
Congress mirrors Indira canteen experiment in Rajasthan
As he tackles to save his govt, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the start of Indira Rasoi Yojana in urban areas of Rajasthan from August 20.
Named after former prime minister Indira Gandhi, the populist scheme aims to provide poor with nutritious food for just Rs 8. CM revealed his government will be spending Rs 100 crore per year on this scheme.
The scheme will functon in 213 urban local bodies of the state and service-oriented institutions and voluntary organisations have been invited to participate in this.
The chief minister also directed to constitute a committee at the state and district levels to ensure the quality of food.
State governments aims to cater to 4.87 crore people through this scheme. Initial details suggest menu of Indira Rasoi will consist of 100 grams of pulses, 100 grams of vegetables, 250 grams of chapati and pickles.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s former manager’s death to be probed by Bihar Police
The Bihar Police team led by SP Patna, which is investigating Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in Mumbai, has revealed that it will also probe the death of the actor’s former manager Disha Salian.
Patna City Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari arrived in Mumbai and revealed that if need be statements of prominent Bollywood Celebrities can be recorded by them.
Mumbai Police has so far recorded statements of nearly 40 people, including director Mahesh Bhatt, film critic Rajeev Masand, director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali and filmmaker Aditya Chopra.
The Bihar Police team, on the other hand is probing a separate ‘abetment to suicide’ case on the basis of a complai nt filed by the late actor’s father in Patna.
