Even as the crowds at ATMs and banks grew longer, the government has come up with a unique solution to combat the cash crunch that has severely affected the country. Speaking at a press conference Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das announced that indelible ink would be used at banks to stop multiple withdrawals. He also announced the creation of a Special Task Force to monitor fake currency that was being circulated in the market.
‘To solve this problem we have decided to use indelible ink marks,similar to elections,on cash counters.’

Places of worship, who receive smaller denomination notes, have been requested to deposit money in banks so that supply of these notes increased.

Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India has decided to suspend the collection of parking charges levied at all the airports till the midnight of 21 November 2016.
“This has been done in order to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers,” the ministry said in a statement issued to the press.
It may be noted that earlier today the government had extended the suspension of the fee collection at all the toll plazas on National Highways till November 18.
Indian Railways has assured that it will accept the demonetised currency notes with respect to payments for ticketing and catering purposes until the 24 November 2016.
India today remembered it’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 127th birth anniversary.
Pandit Nehru was a lawyer and actively took part in the Indian freedom movement. He is credited to have shaped Indian economy and Foreign policy. His daughter Indira Gandhi is India’s first and only female Prime Minister.

Indian Finance Ministry has increased the cash withdrawal limit from INR 2000 to INR 2500.
Daily exchange limits have been increased to INR 4,500 from the previous limit of INR 4,000.
